If you’re in Paris and keeping an eye out for classic, chic street styles, you don’t have to look very far! In fact, all it really took was a walk down the street, a few minutes on a bench, and a seat at the cafe to spot wearable, effortless fashion. After observing for a while, it was easy to start noticing patterns among Parisian women in the way they dress.
There are very few outfits with shorts incorporated, and if they are, they are layered with a pair of tights or have a looser trouser-style fit. Jeans rarely have holes or rips, either. There is a balance of masculine and feminine pieces; women don’t put themselves in a box or limit themselves when it comes to stereotypical “gendered clothing.”
In all, well-kept, well-fitting clothing was the common denominator. There’s also a balance in taking care of how you present yourself, without stressing too much to be all done up! Elevated, casual pieces can make just as much of a statement when styled correctly, and the 45 outfits below exhibit just how effortlessly so many Parisian women translated that motto into their street style.
1. white oxford shirt + silver watch + black trousers + sneakers
Spotted at the coffee shop! Black and white is a forever classic and chic combo for a cup of espresso while finishing some work, or maybe meeting up with a friend to catch up over brunch. Pair a slightly oversized Oxford shirt with black trousers, sneakers, and silver accessories for this fall look. Plus, this is one that you can take right to the office as well for a business casual style.
Wild, Wild Western

For a fall look with a little Western flair, try a black shirtdress, red Western boots, and a bandana-style neck scarf. Finish the look with a vintage-style silver watch, to keep the look from becoming too cowboy. This is a fun, subtle take on the Western trend that was definitely all over Paris, from boots in the window to Western-patterned shackets on mannequins.

3. green lady tweed jacket + printed skirt + western boots + red lipstick
If you want to mix things up, try putting together pieces that you might not ordinarily pair – like tall Western boots and a tweed or boucle lady jacket! Your style doesn’t have to fit perfectly in one genre or another, and French women seemed to have fun playing around with pairing unexpected pieces that ended up looking cool, effortless, and chic.
4. blazer + t-shirt + skinny jeans + western boots
Looking for another example of Western boots in Parisian street-style outfits? Try this look for an even more understated way to incorporate a bit of Western flair into your outfit. The boots are definitely the statement piece here, but are evened out with neutral, classic pieces like a plaid blazer, slim jeans, and an off-white tee. Finish the look with another classic, gold earrings.
Taking a Look at Trenches

Trench coats are one of those pieces that always come to mind when I think of French fashion – and there’s a good reason for that! Here’s a more casual way to style your classic trench. Try a pair of white trousers, a black belt bag, and a pair of sneakers. It’s an elevated look for running your Saturday errands this fall, without sacrificing comfort.

Looking for a slightly different take on the classic tan trench? Try it in black, instead! This black trench is effortlessly cool for your next street style look. Pair it with black pants, a black leather bag, and a sneaker with a pop of red for an eye-catching style. These are all classic pieces that fit within a capsule wardrobe, but when paired together, you’ll feel ready for the runway.
Not-So-Basic Tee Look
7. t-shirt + slim jeans + ankle boots
This look is “Exhibit A” for the phrase, “It’s all about your styling.” Even a t-shirt and jeans can look cool and elevated when styled correctly. First, notice there are no rips or holes in the jeans. They aren’t skin tight, so they can be cuffed easily on the bottom to show a little bit of ankle, or in this case, an ankle boot.
The t-shirt the woman is wearing in the photo is a well-fitting style, but once again, not too tight. To finish out the look, a belt provides added definition and interest around the waist area, while a boot with a square or pointed toe elongates the leg. Little details like this make all the difference!

Wondering how to style the graphic tee in 2023? Don’t get rid of them yet, it’s all about how you style them. Here’s how we saw it styled in Parisian street style outfits! Start with a silky pair of green cargo pants, add a black blazer, and finish off with combat boots.
9. trench coat + sneakers + ankle socks + jeans
Another highlight we noticed in Parisian street style looks was that socks were often visible, and a highlight of looks! Sometimes they were bright white, sometimes textured, or sometimes an eye-catching color. In the States, often the idea is to hide them completely. However, French women incorporate them into the outfit itself.
This outfit is a great way to try it out for yourself. Start with classic wide-legged jeans and a trench coat, paired with a structured, neutral bag. Finish the look with clean white tennis shoes and clean white socks.
Sweaters for No-Sweat Looks
10. sweater + white pants + two-tone flats
There were many looks spotted throughout the Parisian street style looks we saw which proved that you CAN (and should!) wear white after Labor Day. To adapt your favorite white pair of trousers for fall, try styling them with a knit sweater in a more traditional “autumn” shade, like tan, camel, or brown. Then, a pair of two-tone flats with a small heel like this pair (reminiscent of Chanel) pulls the look together. Finish the style with a pair of your preferred sunglasses – this rounded style was especially popular around the city.

For a cozy fall look, a knit cream sweater is the perfect style when paired with a relaxed fit jean, black tote, and leather loafers. This is another look that would easily transition you from a casual Friday to a fun weekend with friends. There were many styles with a similar essence worn around Paris, by both men and women. If I had to describe it in two words, I would call it “elevated casual.”
12. high waist dress shorts + ballet flats + sweater
We didn’t see too many shorts in Parisian street style outfits, but when we did, they were typically in a dress shorts style, like these leather high-waisted ones. Pair them with a knit sweater and ballet flats for a chic, effortless look. This is a great transitional look when the weather is still a little bit warm.
Styling Your Favorite Scarf
13. trench coat + slim jeans + scarf
Here’s the trench – back again! It really is thought of as a Parisian wardrobe staple for a reason. Plus, its versatility means it’s a wardrobe superstar that you’ll never have to worry about wearing too infrequently. This particular look calls for a pair of medium wash skinny jeans and a pair of heeled mules – the perfect fall shoes for a little height, with more coverage than a sandal or wedge.
Finish the look with a black scarf – another staple piece that was all over Paris, in all sorts of varieties and colors. Scarves are a great way to express your individuality or add a pattern or pop of color to an otherwise neutral fall look.
14. black dress + ballet flats + scarf
This would be a great date night look! Start with a midi black dress, add a scarf, and finish with ballet flats. The scarf is a chic accessory if you’re looking for an alternative to your typical date night jewelry. Plus, it adds just a little extra warmth for cool autumn nights.
15. black trench coat + striped shirt + ankle boots
Trench coats are an easy fall staple, but if you want to switch things up, try one in black. Pair it with a striped tee, gold jewelry, and black ankle boots for a laid-back look. Finish the look with a pair of tortoiseshell sunglasses. This ensemble would be perfect for a Saturday around town, as evidenced by when we spotted it in Parisian street style outfits.

Going back to the classic style trench, try pairing it with olive pants for a chic fall outfit. These are two items that will forever remind me of quintessential autumn wear! To finish the look, add a pair of Birkenstock Boston clogs. They’re super comfortable and perfect for a day spent running errands.
Solid Looks for Stripes
17. striped sweater + tapered trousers + loafers
Stripes are a classic pattern in Parisian street style. It’s another common line of thinking in regard to French fashion that seems to have indeed been based on fact! For this look, layer a navy and white striped sweater with tapered cream or khaki trousers, a structured bag with a gold chain detail, and brown leather loafers. If you’d like to add a unique detail to your look, this bag has a boucle pattern that adds a point of interest in the effortless ‘fit.

Are sweatshirts right up your alley? If you want a slightly elevated take on your favorite crewneck, try this striped version. The sleeve detail adds just a little bit of interest beyond your typical grab-and-go look. Then, pair it with white jeans, a black saddle bag, and a pair of mule heels.

For this Parisian street style look, layer a striped sweater or long-sleeved tee (bonus points if it has a fun shoulder detail) with black pants, silver jewelry, and black boots. To elongate your leg, choose a boot with a pointed toe – it keeps the “line” of your leg extending further than a rounded toe would!
Midi Skirt Looks

Pleated midi skirts are definitely having a moment in Paris. If you’re wondering how to make these more wearable in casual street style, try adding a cashmere sweater and sneakers. It’s a comfortable but elevated look for fall.

Here’s another idea for your pleated midi skirt styling: try a brown houndstooth blazer, belt it, and add black knee-high boots to finish the look. This would be a chic ‘fit to try out for the office as well, and you can play around with starting the look with a turtleneck or t-shirt, depending on the weather.
Smart Looks for Oxfords

Try this cozy fall Parisian street style outfit! Start with a striped knit sweater, a blue Oxford button-down, slim-fit jeans, and a leather bag. We saw button-downs or Oxford-style shirts styled in many different ways in looks across Paris. It makes sense, as they’re a great piece to include in your capsule wardrobe. You can style them in every season, and they’re easy to dress up or down. Try them with a pair of trouser-style shorts in the summer, jeans in the fall, or a pair of slacks for the office.

Pops of Color
23. red sweater + black mini skirt + tights + sneakers
Love a pop of color? Try this street style look from Paris based around a red sweater, paired with a black mini skirt, tights, sneakers, and a gold watch. Whenever we saw a pop of color like this in Parisian street style outfits, women always did a great job of balancing the point of interest with more neutral pieces. It keeps the eye from moving from piece to piece, instead of focusing on one central item that you want to highlight in the look.
Cute and Quilted
24. quilted jacket + flared jeans + samba sneakers
The quilted jacket is a staple this fall season in Paris. They were everywhere in Parisian street style outfits – and in stores! Whether a colorful print is more your style, or you’d like something a little more neutral like the version above, they’re a cozy fall fit with a slightly vintage feel that offers the perfect sense of nostalgia that seems to come around whenever the leaves start changing. Try it with denim jeans and Samba sneakers for a chic autumn look.

For another example of how to style a quilted jacket, try pairing it with skinny jeans and a chunkier pair of sneakers. This will help provide some balance to the slightly oversized jacket. As for your base layer, here you can get creative! Depending on the weather you could start with a short sleeve or long sleeve tee, or maybe go with a turtleneck or slim sweater. The options are endless.
26. turtleneck + quilted coat + plaid mini skirt + claw clip
This look is all about layering some great capsule wardrobe pieces. Start with a chic black turtleneck, then add a plaid mini skirt and tights. Add that quilted jacket we were just talking about in case it gets chilly. When you’re not wearing it, throw it over your shoulders or tie it around your waist as another accessory! Complete the look with knee-high boots.
A Little Grunge Never Hurt Nobody

Plaid is another fall staple pattern to incorporate into your street style looks. Try this look from Paris with a plaid mini skirt, a dark denim jacket, and a black turtleneck. As for accessories, start with a red backpack, add black boots, and finish with sheer tights.

Play with plaids to recreate this Parisian street style look. Pair a plaid shacket with corduroy pants, a white Oxford button-down, and sunglasses. This would be a great look for an outdoor winery – cozy, elevated, and perfect for a glass of wine at the vineyard. For extra coziness, try adding a scarf in a neutral color, or any of the colors that you can pull out from the jacket.

This look is all about layering! Pair a plaid maxi skirt and white pants for this warm fall look. As for the sweater, tie it around your shoulders when you aren’t in need of it – this was by far the most common method we noticed Parisians utilizing for carrying around an extra layer! Finish out the look with a pair of Birkenstock sandals.
Neat in Navy

A navy coat is a great classic piece for a chic fall look. Try this outfit with slim jeans, Oxfords heels, and a canvas bag. Canvas bags were all over in Paris, either in substitution of or in addition to a handbag. It makes sense, as Parisians are often on the go all day long, and may accumulate shopping purchases throughout the day. A canvas bag ensures that you’re always prepared, plus, it’s more eco-friendly than accumulating multiple plastic bags, which are pretty rare to find in most European countries!

If you like a little more edge to your street style, try this look spotted in Paris. Start with a leather jacket, and pair it with light-wash jeans and a blue Oxford shirt. Finish the outfit with a black bag and lace-up boots – choose a pair with a block heel if you like a little extra height!
Blazing Hot Looks for Your Favorite Blazer
32. leather blazer + white jeans + ankle boots
Leather luxury is the base of this Parisian street style look. Pair a leather blazer and ankle boots with a black tote with white pants for this fall outfit. Leather in this rich, almost caramel-brown color is especially popular this season, and it provides an alternative if you’d like to branch out from black leather pieces!
33. maxi dress + blazer + belt + socks + birkenstocks
This would be a great look for drinks on Saturday, or the office on Monday. Start with a turtleneck midi or maxi dress, add a blazer, and belt it. This adds a little more definition to an oversized piece like this blazer! Finish the look with socks and Birkenstocks.
Luxe in Lady Jackets

A tweed lady jacket is forever a classic staple for your wardrobe! Style it like this Parisian, with a pair of white jeans, a canvas tote, and a pair of flats. Finish the look with gold jewelry to top it all off!

If you’re going for a more casual but elevated street style, try a pair of wide-legged jeans paired with a black sweatshirt. Next, add a gray sweater tied around the shoulders. Finish the look with a baseball cap and a pair of sneakers.
36. fisherman’s sweater + olive pants + birkenstocks
A fisherman’s sweater is the perfect cozy piece for fall. Layer it with a pair of olive chinos and corduroy Birkenstock Bostons. This is a great example of how many Parisian street styles did not feature pieces that were very tight – many of the pieces featured a more relaxed fit. Finish the effortlessly cool look with a pair of sunglasses!
In a Monochromatic Mood

For a little bit of a grungier edge to your street style, start with your favorite neutral tee and then layer a black denim jacket, a black maxi skirt, and a pair of lace-up Doc Martens or your preferred pair of boots. This look is definitely more on the oversized side. However, the monochromatic pieces help balance out the “statement item” of this look – which I would say is the fit of the pieces rather than one individual piece of clothing!

Culottes were a popular piece in Parisian street style this year. If you’re not sure what culottes are, they’re comparable in style to gaucho pants. The main difference is that culottes typically have a little bit more fullness to them than gauchos. Although this style of pants may not be as popular right now in the United States, if you’d like to try the style, pair the cropped pants with a classic blazer, a shoulder bag, and flats.
39. corduroy shirt + straight jeans + sneakers
Corduroy is the perfect fall fabric – it’s warm and adds a little interest to your basic pieces. Start with a corduroy shirt jacket, then add straight-leg jeans, mid-calf socks, and a pair of sneakers for this Parisian street style.
Back to Your Blazer
40. black blazer + slim jeans + converse
This is another great example of street style that could easily translate to casual Friday! If blazers are a favorite part of your fall wardrobe, pair them with slim or skinny jeans, and black Converse high tops. Add a black leather shoulder bag, or a tote if you need more space for your laptop. This look comes down to great tailoring – if you invest in higher quality jeans and a well-fitting blazer, this look will come across as chic and effortlessly elevated and cool.
Grays and Blues

Here’s another great blazer look that could take you from work to play on a Friday! Start with a bodysuit, t-shirt, or button-down, then layer a gray blazer with slim jeans (you can cuff at the ankle if you’d like!). Finish the look by including a pair of tennis shoes with a pop of color. You could also switch out the sneakers for a pair of loafers or flats, if you would prefer.

Colored, visible socks were all over Parisian street style outfits! Pair a fun colored sock with a neutral foundation, like a camel blazer, straight-leg or slim jeans, loafers, and a leather shoulder bag. The fun peekaboo style indicates that you truly put thought into every single piece that you’re wearing, and is a great opportunity to show off your personality!

This would be the perfect fall office look, as the wool provides a little extra warmth for cool autumn days (or chilly offices)!

Blazers don’t have to be solid and neutral to act as great capsule pieces for your wardrobe. Even though it can be tempting to gravitate toward less expensive options because they’re “just basics,” investing in some that may cost a little more will serve you well. They will last longer, wash better, and will more than likely fit better than their less expensive counterparts. These seemingly innocuous pieces can truly make or break your look!
Parisian Street Style Outfits
I learned so much from the street styles I saw in Paris, and I’m looking forward to trying to recreate some of these outfits with pieces from my own wardrobe. Whether it’s featuring a visible sock, styling different jean fits, or bringing my blazer out 0f banishment from the workplace and into a fun Saturday outing, these looks provide plenty of food for thought.
