In just a few days, our whole family (plus my sister-in-law for extra help!) will be heading to the Dominican Republic for a long-anticipated beach trip. Last month, Titus and I had a free long weekend and took a solo trip to Florida and though that was a nice time, this DR trip was the big one we’ve really been looking forward to!
We’re excited to be in 80-degree tropical weather, go sightseeing, and hang out at the pool at our Airbnb. My 4-year-old has been packing his little backpack during his quiet time for a few weeks now! So far we’ve got books, toy cars, Vitamin C drops, and tissues. Not bad, right? Needless to say, we’re all excited.
And part of the excitement for me is planning out things to wear not just for myself, but for the whole family. At the time of writing this, I’m not officially packed, but I went through my summer wardrobe and it’s all sitting on top of the suitcase. So that counts for something, right?
If you’re in a beach state of mind or have an upcoming beach vacation that you want ideas for, here’s a peek at what I’m bringing (some new, some old) to the Punta Cana area in the Dominican Republic. As well as things I picked up for the boys in my life.
I’m keeping my minimalistic vacation style, but also bringing a few more fun prints and colors to fit the environment and occasion.
Most of the picks below are just inspirational. Titus didn’t want anything new! But this is the vacation style for a man I would go for.
Consider this post inspiration. When I get back, I’ll do an official DR packing list once I know what worked and what didn’t. In the meantime, get your fashion guide to Tulum next: What to Wear in Tulum | Fashion Guide

Carolyn,
I recently found your blog and love your style. The dress that I purchased is a black knit form-fitting 3/4 sleeves with a flared skirt and tie waist midi. It’s for a funeral and I will be outside. MI in cold temps. In your recent blog (recent to me) you showed a dress with a sweater over it making it look like a skirt and top. Brilliant idea because I can use my dress to look different and get a more casual look.
I wouldn’t have thought to do that except maybe a cardigan.
I’m so glad I could give you some new styling ideas!
