From plaid blazers to olive green pants, I’ve compiled a list of items that define the season. Let’s dive into our fall wardrobe checklist and see what items help you to make the most of this season!

1. The Statement Jackets

As the temperatures start to drop, a jacket becomes a must-have as well as the perfect stylish addition to any autumn wardrobe. A statement jacket is not only practical but can also make any outfit stand out! This fall, consider adding a classic leather jacket to your wardrobe for a sleek edge.

Or a cozy teddy coat for a touch of texture and warmth. A military-style jacket is also a great option for a casual yet versatile look. Want a Parisian chic look? A trench coat is the pick for you.

If you’re feeling bold, a colorful or printed statement jacket can add a fun and playful element to any outfit. Animal prints and plaid are all popular choices this season! And for a more formal look, a blazer in a rich fall color such as burgundy or olive green is both professional and stylish.

2. Chunky Knits

Sweater weather, sweater weather, sweater weather. Nothing screams fall like a cozy, chunky knit sweater! It’s the perfect way to stay warm and stylish during those brisk autumn days. Whether you prefer a classic cable knit or something with a more modern twist, chunky knits are a must-have for any fall wardrobe.

One of the best things about chunky knits is their versatility. You can dress them up with a skirt and block heels or keep them casual with a pair of jeans and sneakers. They’re also great for layering, which makes them perfect for unpredictable fall weather.

When it comes to colors, neutrals or rich, autumnal hues are the way to go. Think warm browns, deep oranges, and dark greens. You can also opt for a classic cream or black if you want something more versatile.

But it’s not just about the sweaters! Chunky knit scarves, hats, and even socks are also great additions to any fall wardrobe. Not only do they keep you warm, but they also add a cozy touch to any outfit. Chunky knits are a staple of fall fashion for a reason. They’re practical, stylish, and perfect for the season. So if you don’t already have a few in your closet, it’s time to build your shopping list!

3. Stylish Boots

When it comes to footwear for the fall season, nothing screams “fall” quite like a good pair of boots. These shoes are versatile, comfortable, and effortlessly stylish, making them a must-have item for any autumn wardrobe.

Boots come in a wide range of styles, from booties to ankle-high to mid-calf length to even knee-high boots. Not to mention all the different colors and textures. Want a quick most popular recap? One popular option is the classic Chelsea boot, which pairs well with jeans. Also popular, a combat or lug sole boot adds a bit of edge to any outfit.

Then you’ve got the classic ankle-high black leather boot. They add a polished touch to any outfit, whether you’re running errands or going out for a night on the town. Have room in your wardrobe for another pair? I’m a big fan of the glove boot, as they make pairing jeans and boots together a breeze.

And of course, we can’t forget knee-high boots! Whether you opt for a riding style, block heel, or both, these are timeless and add a preppy sophistication touch to your outfit.

4. Perfect Prints

As the leaves change, so do the prints in our wardrobes. Though you can never go wrong with the classics like stripes, fall is the perfect season to embrace a new set of prints, making a statement while still staying cozy and comfortable.

Plaid is a classic print that screams “fall”. Depending on the clothing piece, plaid can come across as casual or sophisticated, making it a great versatile option. This season, try incorporating a plaid blazer, coat, or skirt into your wardrobe. Not feeling plaid? Opt for a checkered or houndstooth print instead.

Another print that’s always popular this season is animal print. Whether it’s a leopard print coat or snakeskin flats, adding an animal print piece to your outfit will definitely make a statement.

For those looking for something a little more subtle this season, try florals. This print may not be typically associated with fall, but when in a moodier print paired with the right autumnal colors, it can add a beautiful touch to any outfit.

5. Fabulous Fabrics

Fabulous fabrics like suede and leather are perfect companions for your autumn wardrobe. Suede, with its rich texture and soft feel, is perfect for creating a cozy and chic autumn look. Whether you opt for a suede jacket or pair of ankle boots, this fabric adds a touch of warmth and style to any outfit. Pair a suede jacket with dark denim jeans and a chunky knit sweater for a casual yet elevated look, or dress it up with a midi skirt and ankle boots for a night out.

Leather is another fabulous fabric that screams fall. A classic leather jacket is a staple piece for any autumn wardrobe, offering both warmth and style. Dressed up or down, leather jackets are versatile and effortlessly elevate any outfit. Leather accessories like belts and crossbody bags can also add a touch of sophistication to your fall looks.

And of course, we can’t mention fall fabrics without mentioning flannel, denim, tweed, wool, and corduroy! All great picks for the season.

6. The Quintessential Colors

One of the best things about this season is the gorgeous palette of colors that comes with it! These quintessential colors evoke the cozy feeling of crisp leaves underfoot and pumpkin spice in the air. The classic fall colors include moody shades of red, orange, yellow, brown, and green. How do you know if you’re picking classic colors? These colors can be found in the changing foliage outside, as well as in your wardrobe.

For a warm and inviting look, try pairing rich burgundy with deep olive green. Brown and beige also make great base colors for fall outfits and can be paired with bold jewel tones or muted earthy shades for a timeless look. No matter your style, incorporating these quintessential fall colors into your wardrobe will have you looking and feeling cozy and chic all season long.

Even just incorporating one of these items or colors can go a long way in making your wardrobe feel fall ready!
